When was the last time no one needed anything from you?
Solo travel isn’t about being alone. It’s about being unavailable.
To stress. To demands. To constant giving.
That’s peaceful travel.
As women, we grow up being programmed to give. To be needed. By spouses, children, parents. Life becomes a series of things you're doing for others. While it's a great feeling to be needed and have a purpose, what if your purpose was to simply be?
The best way to explore this state of being is to travel solo. Not necessarily alone, on your own.
In my many years of travelling, some of the most meaningful trips have been choosing somewhere I really want to go and joining a small group of like-minded people. I book a room to myself so I can languish in my own solitude when I feel like it. Yet each day, I am exploring somewhere in the world with a group who often are also out discovering themselves as well as the place we are in. Waking up alone in a strange city is one of the best feelings in the world! It's even better if you've got breakfast included, a group to join for sightseeing, rambling, having a meal together, a glass of wine, sharing stories, knowing that at the end of the day you can unlock the door to your private room and unwind and reflect on the day's adventures. The overwhelming sense of peace and happiness is hard to describe. It's about being with yourself.
So don't hesitate. Give yourself permission to do this. It is life changing.
Have a look at the current group departures I have going in 2027. If one of them catches your eye, contact me. I'd love to talk to you!
